HOUSE prices in Bradford dropped by 2.6 per cent in April, the latest figures have shown reflecting a national trend but faring better than the rest of Yorkshire.

The figures from the Land Registry revealed the average Bradford house price in April was £151,970, a fall of 2.6 per cent from March.

This fall is lower than the Yorkshire and Humber average of a 3.7 per cent decrease but is higher than the national average of a 1.9 per cent drop.

However, this drop doesn’t reverse the longer-term trend, which has seen house prices grow annually by 13.5 per cent in the district – meaning the average property’s value in the district went up by £18,000, the eighth best growth figure in Yorkshire and Humber.

Flats fared the worst in April, with prices falling by three per cent, while for detached properties it was a 2.7 per cent fall, for terraced houses prices fell 2.6 per cent, and for semi-detached houses it was 2.4 per cent down.

Average property prices in Bradford are still almost £100,000 lower than the UK average, and are almost £28,000 lower than the rest of Yorkshire, but house prices in Bradford are going up faster than in the rest of Yorkshire (12 per cent) and the UK (8.9 per cent).
