AN indoor golf activity centre could open in a section of a former department store in Bradford city centre.
A planning application has been submitted to Bradford Council to convert part of the former Boyes store on North Parade into what is described as the first business of its kind in the city.
Loony Golf would have two main themes - a jungle course and a "dark neon" theme, and the business would also include a cafe.
The application, submitted by N Royal, says the business will be aimed at "any age group who can hold a golf club."
It adds: "With our business being the first of its kind in Bradford we will be attracting more visitors to this side of town. Looney Golf will add to the list of attractions within the area already."
The business would open from 10am to 9.30pm.
New arcade will bring retro gaming to Bradford city centre
The Boyes store closed its North Parade site in 2019 - moving to a new location in the Kirkgate Shopping Centre. Since then the 40,000 sq ft building has been divided into several units. It is currently home to a clothing store and a soon to open "virtual reality experience."
A decision on the application is expected in August.
If approved it would further add to the planned leisure businesses in the city centre.
As well as the neighbouring North Parade VR experience, a "Ninja Warrior" activity centre will be opening in an empty unit in the Broadway Shopping Centre, and a vintage arcade is soon to open in the former T&A loading bay on Hall Ings.
Time Trapped escape rooms has moved to a long vacant building on Hustlergate, and plans for a climbing wall in Broadway were approved last year.
