BRADFORD South MP Judith Cummins has acknowledged the Boundary Commission's acceptance of a "strong Bradfordian identity" in its latest proposals.
The Commission published proposed changes to constituency boundaries this morning, laying out how seats in Bradford and the local area could change.
In Bradford, it is proposing that the Great Horton ward is moved out of Bradford South and into Naz Shah's Bradford West seat, with Clayton and Fairweather Green ward moving in the opposite direction.
The change is significant climbdown from proposals a couple of years ago which planned to create the 'Bradford South and Spen' seat and was widely criticised by residents in the seat, with protests taking place against the plans.
Judith Cummins has urged residents in Bradford South and other areas to once again make their voices heard in the consultation on the latest plans, which is open until August 2.
She said: "The Boundary Commissioners in their last review accepted there was a 'strong depth of feeling against our initial proposals and a distinct "Bradfordian" identity'.
"Many people argued to keep Bradford Bradford and this time they have.
"However, the final proposals in the last review kept a core of Bradford South wards together which included the Great Horton Ward.
"I am sure my constituents will once again make the case to the Boundary Commission to reflect their views on the communities I represent on their behalf.
"We know that things could change by the end of the process, or that the changes may never happen. I will continue to serve all my constituents regardless of a review that may or may not happen."
Naz Shah MP has also been contacted for comment on how the proposals affect her seat in Bradford West.
