LOUISE Redknapp will star in Dolly Parton’s smash hit 9 to 5 The Musical when it re-opens Bradford’s Alhambra theatre.
The singer and former Strictly Come Dancing finalist will play Violet Newstead in the show, which runs at the Alhambra from September 7-11.
Louise starred in 9 to 5 The Musical and in the West End and her other theatre credits including playing Sally Bowles in the national tour of Cabaret. In 2016 she reached the final of Strictly with professional partner Kevin Clifton. As a musician, Louise has sold millions of records, as a member of the band Eternal and then as a solo artist, with her first live shows in 15 years selling out around the UK.
Dolly Parton said: “I am so proud that 9 to 5 will be coming back soon to theatres all across the UK. Louise has been wonderful since she led the show in the West End and we're all so excited to give audiences the best night out after we have all waited so long!”
The musical features the original Oscar, Grammy and Tony-nominated score from the 1980 film, written by country legend Dolly Parton, who starred in the movie with Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin.
It’s the story of Doralee, Violet and Judy, three workmates pushed to boiling point by their sexist boss. They hatch a plan to kidnap and turn the tables on their despicable supervisor - but will events unravel when the CEO pays an unexpected visit?
