GOOD progress has been made at the Greengates crossroads roadworks over the past two weeks as the scheme takes a step closer to completion.
The work, by Howard Civil Engineering and Bradford Council, is seeing the Harrogate Road/New Line junction upgraded, with a new P-loop installed to ease congestion.
Over the past fortnight a rainwater attenuation system has been installed in New Line opposite Asda, and work has continued on ducting at road crossings.
Other work in New Line has seen further widening take place from Farmfoods down to Sunnyside Day Nursery.
In the next two weeks, the rainwater system installation is set to be completed in New Line, with widening of the road also continuing and more work at pedestrian crossings.
Work will also begin on the second phase of high and low voltage cable diversions, and as such some pavements will be closed with diversions in place, and the bus stop outside Greengates Primary School will also be suspended to allow works to take place in Harrogate Road.
All roads have been reduced to two lanes to allow widening, with these due to be in place “for the foreseeable future” so motorists are advised to allow extra time for journeys.
Issues with reckless drivers making dangerous manoeuvres around traffic management are also sadly still persisting at the site.
Away from the junction, some Howard staff gave up their weekend to paint wood pallets and drums in Greengates Primary’s playground.
