THREE houses belonging to Bradford Council will go to auction today - with one having a guide price of just £40,000.
The online Pugh property auction will feature properties from across the district belonging to the Council, including one decrepit property that is described as needing "a full refurbishment."
Originally seven homes were listed, but four of those auctions have been postponed.
The remaining properties are:
- 33 Edensor Road in Keighley, a two-bed mid terrace that has a guide price of £70,000.
- 2 Tyne Street Haworth, a two bed back to back terrace house that has a guide price of £65,000
- 73 Maidstone Street in the Barkerend area, a mid terrace, three bed house described in the listing as needed "full refurbishment." It has a guide price of £40,000.
As part of the Council's empty homes policy, the authority often takes ownership of long empty properties in order to bring them back onto the housing market.
Houses owned by Bradford Council sold at auction - with one doubling guide price
Homes are obtained by measures such as compulsory purchase orders or by agreement with the owners.
Sometimes the Council disposes of properties by passing them onto charities or registered social landlords.
On other occasions the homes are sold at auction.
Bradford Council was asked whether any of these homes had been obtained through this policy, but has yet to respond.
