Two house burglars have been locked up after homes were broken into at night and vehicles stolen in a series of offences committed across West Yorkshire.
Callum Grace, 21, of Tong Street, Bradford, and Lewis Flemming, 18, of Fawcett Place, Tong, Bradford, were sentenced at Bradford Crown Court on Friday by Recorder Richard Mansell QC.
Grace was sentenced for a burglary at Sycamore Rise, Wooldale, Holmfirth, on February 12 last year; theft of three cars from the property; and two further burglaries that month, with linked theft of Audi vehicles.
Flemming was dealt with for dangerous driving, the Sycamore Rise burglary and possession of criminal property.
The court heard that the burglary involving both defendants was committed by forcing a rear door at the house in the early hours while the female occupier was asleep.
All three cars were stolen from the drive along with the victim’s handbag and purse. Two of the vehicles were later recovered on false plates.
Grace then carried out two further burglaries, in Hawthorn Way, Shelley, near Huddersfield, and Cooper Lane, Buttershaw, Bradford, stealing Audis from each address.
The victim of the Bradford break-in had the door of her home kicked in while she and her children were asleep.
She was woken by her car engine running and saw her Audi S4 valued at £30,000 being reversed down the drive.
When she opened the house window, one of the burglars shouted: “F*** off bitch, nice f***ing car.”
Her vehicle was driven off in convoy with the second stolen Audi and it collided with an-other vehicle after a high-speed police chase.
Four males ran from the car and Grace was arrested hiding nearby with a balaclava in his pocket.
Judge Mansell accepted that he was a talented boxer who “took a wrong turn some-where.”
He was jailed for three and a half years.
Flemming’s dangerous driving on November 5, 2019, was on a stolen Yamaha BT motorbike.
He failed to stop for the police and drove around Buttershaw, Bradford, going straight through a junction, mounting a pavement and crossing a grassed area.
The possession of criminal property related to a car stolen in a house burglary.
Flemming was also sentenced for criminal damage, attempted burglary and assault by beating.
He was locked up in a young offender institution for two years and banned from driving for 20 months and until he takes an extended retest.
