CINEMAS finally re-opened this week so we’ve dipped into our archive to take a look at picture houses of the past in Bradford.
Were you in this excited queue to see Return of the Jedi at the Odeon back in 1983?
The Odeon building was the popular Gaumont ballroom until it re-opened as a cinema and bingo hall on August 21, 1969, with the Odeon name.
Or did you go to the ABC on Broadway? I saw ET there in 1982 - and fell in love with Harrison Ford in Witness the following year.
Before the ABC was the Ritz cinema on Broadway. It opened in 1939, one of the ABC circuit cinemas designed by architect WR Glen in Art Deco splendour.
