BRADFORD-based demolition firm Thomas Crompton has been called in last night to assist at the site of a fire in Legrams Lane which gutted an old mill earlier this week.
The firm ison site assisting the fire service, where a blazetook hold on Wednesday leaving the old building, and a number of businesses based there, badly damaged.
Units from Thomas Crompton were helping to assist with the damping down last night, helping firefighters deal with hot spots under part of the building's collapsed roof.
A large excavator was on the scene helping with the clean up process.
Shipley fire station said it had one crew at the scene overnight continuing with the damping down process to fully extinguish the blaze.
A total of 18 fire engines and four aerial appliances from across West Yorkshire were called to the scene at 2.45am on Wednesday alongside police, ambulance, Bradford Council’s Emergency Planning team (BCEP) and Yorkshire Water.
More than two dozen flats had to be evacuated due to the fire and Worldwide Foodstores, Bentley Beds, White Rose Fabrics, White Rose Upholstery and Oman’s Furniture, based at the mill, have all be left devastated by the blaze.
Speaking on Wednesday, Bradford district commander Benjy Bush said: “At the height of the fire there were around 100 firefighters and specialist officers dealing with the incident.
"There was significant damage to the building itself – this was a large fire that caused damage to all three floors.
“The firefighters did an amazing job in working quickly to stop the fire spreading."
