THE sky-high cost of weddings is putting couples off getting married, a study found.
Nine out of ten young people want to tie the knot but have not due to the pressure to spend huge sums on ceremonies, receptions and honeymoons, the think-tank the Marriage Foundation found.
My wedding cost around £300 in 1994 (£524 in today’s money) and was perfectly enjoyable. I realise that that may be a little stingy for many, but there is no need to splash out ridiculous sums - the average UK wedding now costs anywhere from £18,000 to £32,000 - to have a good one.
