A WARNING has been issued following a fire caused by a wood burning stove at a house in Baildon today.
Crew commander Adrian Gill, of Shipley Fire Station, said three fire engines from Shipley, Bingley and Fairweather Green fire stations responded to the domestic property fire at the home on Lower Holme, Baildon, at 11.43am today.
He said: "The fire was caused when paper surrounding a wood burning stove caught fire due to sparks coming from the stove.
"There was burn damage around the fire but the smoke caused quite a bit of damage to the living room and the kitchen.
"The male occupant raised the alarm and left the property. He was not injured."
Two of three smoke detectors in the property also activated.
Crew commander Gill also issued a warning about wood burning stove and smoke detectors.
He said: "Everyone needs to be beware when using a wood burning stove to make sure you close the door when you're not in the same room.
"This time of year is also a good time get the chimney swept.
"Everyone should also make sure that you have working smoke detectors."
