BRADFORD Libraries are working with BookTrust to help gift 2,000 copies of the picture book My Pet Star by Corinne Averiss in celebration of this year’s Pyjamarama Day which takes place on Friday.
To celebrate the day, which promotes BookTrust’s free national book-gifting scheme Bookstart, there will be a read along story time on Bradford Library webpages www.bradford.gov.uk/libraries at 9am - booking is not needed.
This will be followed by an interactive online session with rhyme time favourite Noel Ward.
Noel will be taking the children on an adventure through song, rhyme and stories.
Booking is essential for this session which starts at 10am on Friday and is live on zoom.
To book on the session email susan.brewster-craig@bradford.gov.uk
BookTrust will be offering lots of family fun on the day through their webpage www.booktrust.org.uk with games, puzzles and craft activities to make. There will also be a book list to give inspiration for bed time stories for all the family.
BookTrust and Bradford Libraries are working hard to find ways to ensure that families can also receive the free book gifting packs that are provided for children in the early years.
The Baby Pack (0-12mths), which has two free books, finger puppets, rhyme sheet and booklet of tips is gifted via registrars when you register a birth and the Treasure Pack (48-60mths), which has one free book, plus a friendly booklet with tips and ideas for reading together is gifted via early years settings.
Families that feel they have missed out can contact michelle.lang@bradford.gov.uk
The free picture books are available from libraries across the district.
Bradford Libraries are now opening for browsing, PC use and study space on a rolling programme along with order and collect offer too. For more information visit www.bradford.gov.uk/libraries
