POLICE are sifting for evidence near a knocked-down bollard after a woman was killed in a hit-and-run yesterday.
Officers seem to have changed their focus as to where the incident of the woman killed by a hit and run took place in Barkerend.
After visiting the scene, the Telegraph & Argus saw evidence markers being placed on Beech Terrace, not Lonsdale Street.
Officers are combing the bottom of the road where the green way can be accessed.
This is protected by several bollards and large chunks of rock round the border.
The officers were using wooden poles to sift through a long bush at the end of Beech Terrace, while two of them also lifted a knocked-down bollard and placed what looked to be pieces of debris on top of the object.
It is believed the female in her 30s was on the pavement and ended up on the grass of the green way seperating the two streets.
A police corden is still in place.
An annoymous resident from the area said: "I didn't see it, but a delivery driver knocked on my door and gave me a package and said you need to call an ambulance.
"I said," 'why, what's happened, what's happened' and I saw the lady laying on the floor."
FLORAL TRIBUTES AT THE SCENE OF FATAL HIT AND RUN
Police are still keen to speak to anyone who witnessed this collision, the manner of driving of the vehicle beforehand or who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area.
