A POLICE cordon and floral tributes are at the scene of a hit and run in Barkerend where a women died yesterday afternoon.
A man, 41, was arrested after reports of a collision on Lonsdale Road involving a grey Citroen C1 and a pedestrian at 3pm.
When the Telegraph & Argus visited the scene today, the large cordon seemed to be set up across a greenway-style footpath to the north of a block of residential streets, rather than on Lonsdale Road itself.
The driver of the car involved left the scene prior to police attendance. A suspect was subsequently arrested and put into custody.
The female, who was in her 30s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Police are still keen to speak to anyone who witnessed this collision, the manner of driving of the vehicle beforehand or who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area.
Information can be passed to West Yorkshire Police via 101 or online using 101 Live Chat, quoting log 1040 of 10/05.
