A NEW application to turn the building David Hockney studied art in into a restaurant has been submitted to Bradford Council.
Last year planning officers refused plans to convert the Grove Library building on Great Horton Road into a new venue for restaurant chain LaLas.
They had raised concerns about the limited parking for the new restaurant and the lack of information on what changes would be made to the Grade II listed building.
The building belonged to Bradford College before it moved its library into the David Hockney building - but before then it was the Bradford Regional College of Art, which produced the acclaimed group of artists known as the Bradford Mafia, which included Hockney.
Part of the building is now used as office space, and the new planning application is for the remainder of the building.
It seeks to turn it into a restaurant, with conference facilities and a "Sky Lounge Cafe" on the top floor.
The new application aims to overcome concerns raised by highways officers by including a transport statement.
The statement points out that the restaurant has a city centre location, is on a major bus route and a short walk from a car park on Morley Street.
Conversion of listed former College building would 'bring life back' into area of city centre
It says other nearby restaurants, such as The International and Kashmir, do not have any dedicated parking spaces.
The transport statement says: "The Grove Library development is provided with excellent accessibility by public transport which will provide a very viable alternative to trips by private car and contribute to a reduction in overall traffic generation and parking demand.
"There will be no unacceptable impact on highway safety and no severe impact on the highway network."
A decision on the application is expected next month.
Earlier this year a planning application to convert another former College building on Great Horton Road, the Old Building, into flats was approved by Bradford Council.
