Detectives are hoping to interview a 41-year-old man who suffered serious head injuries in an alleged assault near to his home.

The victim could have lain helpless for more than eight hours after he was apparently attacked after being dropped off by a taxi in Queens Road, Manningham, Bradford, at about 1am on Sunday following a night out in Leeds.

He was discovered by his parents at 9.30am that day after crawling down an alley into his back garden in Marlborough Road.

The man, who lives with his parents, was taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary in a critical condition.

His condition has improved and he is now described as stable.

Detective Inspector John Priestley, of Bradford North CID, said the victim was conscious and speaking.

Police want to hear from anyone who saw an incident, or anyone acting suspiciously, in Queens Road and Marlborough Road between 1am and 9.30am on Sunday to call Bradford North Police on (01274) 376285 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
