Two teenage boys have denied assaulting a 15-year-old girl at Shipley rail station.

The 12-year-old and 13-year-old, from Shipley, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said they did not hit and punch a fellow school pupil, preventing her from catching her train to Guiseley.

But the 13-year-old admitted one offence of disorderly conduct against the conductor.

Bingley Youth Court heard the three had travelled from Keighley and were changing trains at Shipley to reach Guiseley on November 14. It is alleged that the two boys then prevented the girl from getting on the next train, with one hitting her and one punching her.

The train was halted at the station, creating chaos for commuters. The schoolboys were arrested and denied common assault in interview.

The court heard a CCTV malfunction at Shipley Station had resulted in footage not being available of the incident.

The two will appear again at Bingley Youth Court on Friday, January 11.
