There was no Christmas cheer for the three Bradford sides in the West Riding County Amateur League Premier Division as Campion, Tyersal and Wibsey all suffered home defeats.

Campion could have closed the gap on leaders Bay Athletic, who lost 2-0 at home to Storthes Hall, and second-placed Meltham Athletic, who drew 0-0 with Golcar United.

But their visitors Brighouse Town had the greater desire and first-half goals from Kieran Lenihan and Mathew Roy sealed the points.

Tyersal had the better of the first half against Hall Green United but were unable to find the scoring touch. The second half was a complete turnaround as Clifton Firth and Danny Empsall both scored twice to give Green a 4-0 victory.

Tyersal's cause was not helped by the fact that they were reduced to nine players.

After the euphoria of winning the title last year, Wibsey have slumped to their lowest position in the top flight.

A James Rutherford goal gave Keighley Shamrocks a 1-0 win to leave Wibsey second from bottom, just ahead of Ovenden West Riding, who lost 3-0 at home to Halifax Irish.

Huddersfield sides Kirkburton and Marsden are setting the pace in Division One. Leaders Kirkburton beat Farnley 1-0, while Marsden had to settle for a point with a 2-2 draw at home to Heckmondwike Town.

Crag Road United's challenge for promotion was dealt a severe setback when visitors Steeton returned home with a 5-1 victory.

Johnny Lawrence and Colin Horsfield both scored twice and Nick Trowers was also on target for Steeton. Paul Moorhouse netted Crag's consolation.

Bronte Wanderers moved into contention with a 4-1 home win against South Bradford. Dave Nelson (2), John Calla-ghan and Ian Maude were on the scoresheet for the hosts, Adie Lowther replying for the visitors.

Salts finally found form in front of goal with a 4-1 success at home to Wakefield City. Gareth Gott (2), former Thackley player Stuart Burgess and Graham Corbett were the men on target.

U-Save Albion travelled to Division Two leaders Storthes Hall and came away with a great 4-1 win thanks to goals from Taj Singh, Glynn Beale and Daljit Singh.

Brighouse Town Reserves returned to the top after a 1-1 draw with Tyersal Reserves.

Hunsworth beat Hemsworth Miners Welfare Reserves 2-0 with goals from Lee Brook Craig Firth, while Dudley Hill Rangers and Campion settled for a point each in a goalless draw.

Meanwhile, Bradford Sunday Alliance Division 1A team Otley Road took Kippax Welfare to extra time in the West Riding Sunday Cup before bowing out 2-1. It was no surprise when hosts Kippax went in front in the first half.

The Bradford side came back into the game after the break and equalised through Leigh Binns but Kippax got the winner in the extra half-hour.

Alliance Premier Division side Buttershaw White Star were pushed all the way in the Kitz "N"Pieces Sunday Senior Cup tie at home to Division One leaders Clayton Orient.

The large crowd at Harold Park saw Lee Bialeck - playing his first game for four months - put the hosts in front but Phil Orr equalised after the break.

The winner came five minutes from time when Nathan Ramsden scored a typical poachers goal to put White Star through.
