I HAVE written before about the impossible task of getting through by phone to your doctor’s surgery. It is getting worse. I was told one morning in a recorded message that I was in a telephone queue of ‘more than 30’. You might expect that when ringing your internet provider, but your doctor? I decided not to wait. The next time I rang I was in a queue of six, yet still had to hang on for 30 minutes before speaking to someone. During this time I got sick of hearing the fact the message: ‘we have a wealth of information on our website.’ But no real, living, breathing doctors, it should add.
