A MAN suffered burns to his hands and face in a chip fan fire.
Fire crews from Illingworth, Rastrick, Cleckheaton and Odsal, with an aerial appliance from Halifax, were scrambled to the scene at Range Court, near Halifax town centre.
West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service said there had been "numerous calls" about the fire, which broke out on the fifth floor of the 15-storey block of flats.
A spokesperson said: "This was a chip pan fire that had been taken out into the corridor, on arrival of fire service the fire was out, although the corridor was heavily smoke logged.
"A positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear the smoke.
"One male casualty suffered burns to his hands and face and was taken to hospital by ambulance for a precautionary check-up.
"Smoke detection was fitted and working."
