A Bradford health worker is celebrating after winning a new luxury car in an NHS lottery.

Alison Wilson, a health and safety advisor at Bradford Royal Infirmary, got the keys to the BMW from chief executive of Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Miles Scott.

Alison, who has only been playing the staff lottery since joining the NHS two years ago, said she was thrilled with the win.

"It is absolutely wonderful," she said. "I was going to buy a new car next year so Santa has come early for me."

The lottery, which has been running for more than 15 years, is open to all 2,500 NHS workers in Bradford. It holds monthly draws and in the spring there is the chance to win a holiday and a car each Christmas.

Half the proceeds are given in prizes and the other 50 per cent is used to help provide extra care for NHS patients in Bradford.
