Firefighters are warning festive revellers to cook late-night snacks safely and sensibly.
"We want people to have a good Chritmas but we also want them to have a safe Christmas too," said crew manager Toby May who is stationed at Bradford Fire Station.
He added: "People who have been out celebrating or maybe just working late need to be careful to stay next to the cooker if they are making anything so they don't forget about it or fall asleep."
Firefighters were called to a flat fire in Manchester Road just before 5am today after a pan was left unattended.
A smoke alarm woke the occupier up in bed, he was shocked but not hurt.
"I think in this case the man had come back from work and was just worn out but people must be careful," saidMr May.
