LATEST NEWS: Police charge man with murder and name woman who died in their shared flat
MURDER squad detectives are continuing to carry out inquiries today after a woman was found dead at a property.
One passer-by said that a "significant police presence" remains on Broadway, Horsforth - with forensic officers also in attendance - after police were first called to the area yesterday afternoon.
A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder, and detectives said that although the body has not yet been formally identified, it is believed to be that of a 26-year-old local woman.
Her family have been informed, police confirmed last night.
One onlooker, who did not wish to be named, said today: “There’s still a significant police presence at the scene this morning.
“There are two police vans and one police car, and attention seems to be focussing on a block of flats. There’s an officer in one of those flats now.
“Two forensic officers have turned up and got into their gear to help with the investigations.
“The front of the flats is Broadway, which is part of the Ring Road, but it seems like a quiet back street round the back.”
