NOW that certain lockdown rules have been lifted life can begin to get back to normal; one way that this is happening is people now able to go on staycations.

Following Stage 2 of the roadmap out of lockdown, venues such as campsites and self-contained holiday lets can now reopen for holidaymakers in the UK.

Campsites have seen large numbers of bookings following the reopening and with uncertainty remaining around foreign travel this summer.

For people still wary of going abroad or further afield in the UK, the Bradford district offers a great setting for a staycation, including the large number of pubs and restaurants around the district now open for outdoor service, many historic heritage sites and of course the stunning Yorkshire scenery on the moors and Dales.

The district’s countryside is a paradise for walkers and cyclists, while the city, towns and villages across the district are jam-packed with history and culture, from the historic streets of the city centre to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Saltaire, over to Bronte Country around Keighley and up to picturesque setting of Ilkley.

Here we take a look at some of the camping sites in the district you can book, but places are filling up quick!

Esholt Sports Club

Located on the outskirts of the city of Bradford, this site is surrounded by stunning scenery and is only a short distance from Baildon and Ilkley Moors and the Yorkshire Dales, while Bradford city centre and Shipley are both easily accessible.

It has a bar on-site but the famous Woolpack pub, as seen in Emmerdale, is very close by, as are other recognisable locations from the show.

Dogs are welcome and it is affordably priced at £20 a night for tents, but it is filling up quick.

It is a stone’s throw from Ilkley Moor and Otley Chevin, perfectly placed for a walking holiday and spending time in the great outdoors, from just £20 a night.

Note: tents are not allowed until May 17 as washing facilities are closed, and people staying in lodges need to bring their own towels and bedding.

Wuthering Heights Inn

As you can guess from the name, this site in Stanbury, Keighley, is in the heart of Bronte Country.

You are in the perfect place to explore the area where Charlotte, Emily and Anne lived and were inspired to write their timeless novels, from the unspoiled moors and Dales to the village of Haworth and all the surrounding areas.

As the name also suggests, there is a pub right on hand to keep you fed and watered (or beered) with a selection of food and drink.

For camping prices start at £15, and it also has two shepherd’s huts for glamping at £55 a night.
