A service to remember the hymns of Charles Wesley will be held at St Luke's Church, Eccleshill, Bradford, at 9.30am tomorrow.
The service, 300 years and five days after Wesley's birth, will be conducted by the Rev John Hartley, vicar of St Luke's.
The service will include some of Wesley's 7,500 hymns and there will be an account of the story of his life.
Rev Hartley, himself a hymn writer, is paying tribute to Wesley and other lyricists and musicians who have been an inspiration to his own writing.
The tune of one of his recent hymns, in honour of Charles Wesley, recently won a prize in a Methodist competition in Settle, North Yorkshire.
