Staff at a struggling community centre are marking its end by holding one last event.
Wrose Community Centre in Wrose Road is closing tomorrow after the committee that runs it said they could no longer find the funds to keep the building open.
It has been a centre for elderly and vulnerable people, mother and toddler groups, ladies' clubs, bingo, keep fit and language classes among numerous other groups.
As previously reported in the Telegraph & Argus, chairman Beryl Holt said the centre had been forced to close after it was thrown into "overwhelming financial disarray" 18 months ago.
After making the decision to close the centre after more than 20 years, Mrs Holt said she was "disappointed" but said today's party would be "one to remember". Hundreds of well-wishers, including members of groups that have used the centre and Wrose residents, were expected to attend.
It is being held between 10am and 3pm at the centre.
