SUN-SEEKERS enjoyed the mini-heatwave across the district today - but it is not expected to last for the Easter weekend.

Outdoor public spaces across Bradford including Lister Park, Roberts Park in Saltaire and Ilkley Moor were swelled with visitors basking in today's sunshine.

Temperatures in Bradford reached a high of 19C today, as the school Easter holidays also saw families take to the parks to enjoy the sunny weather.

The mercury is set to continue to rise across the district tomorrow with temperatures again in Bradford set to reach 19C, according to the Met Office.

But make the most of this mini heatwave with temperatures set to take a tumble in time for the Easter weekend.

Temperatures will plunge to just 10C on Thursday with the blue, sunny skies making way for cloudy and cooler conditions.

This cloudy pattern will continue for all of the long Easter weekend, with temperatures falling to 9C by Monday and the only break from the cloud coming on Easter Sunday when the sunshine returns.

The warm weather is also timely as lockdown restrictions were partially lifted on Monday.

Under the relaxation of the rules, groups of up to six people from different households can meet in a host of outdoor locations including private gardens or public parks, adhering to social distancing restrictions.

But residents have been urged to be vigilant as the district's Covid-19 rate "is no longer falling" ahead of the Easter break.

Meanwhile, the sunny conditions have also given a boost to sports club who have been allowed to re-open to the public since Monday.

Outdoor sport facilities, including golf courses and tennis courts, were also given the green light to reopen their doors in the latest easing of the lockdown restrictions.

One such venue is Heaton Tennis & Squash Club which has re-opened initially to its members as it gets back in business.

The Emm Lane club's outdoor tennis courts, including two floodlit courts, have meant people can once again enjoy the sport.

The club is open to members only with tennis camps also open to children throughout the Easter school holidays.

The club has also given six months' free membership to its existing members as a thank you after they helped the club during the pandemic. Heaton club has also received a £25,000 grant from Bradford Council during the last 12 months.

They also hope to re-open indoor squad courts to individuals and people from the same household when the next stage of restrictions are lifted on April 12.
