OUTDOOR swimming pools and lidos have been given the green light to reopen this week as part of Boris Johnson’s roadmap out of lockdown.
However, no one was having fun in the sun at Ilkley Lido as refurbishment work continues.
A Bradford Council spokesperson said: “Work on the indoor pool at Ilkley is almost complete and the site is expected to open on 26th April. Work is ongoing on the Lido and the site is expected to open this summer. We will provide further updates when we have an expected date or more information.”
The authority approved funding last year of £655,000 to replace the pool tank at the Lido – which has not been replaced since its opening in 1935. The work also includes re-instating the hand rail, re-enforcing the structure of the deep end wall and a new filtration system. The indoor pool needed work on the tiles which were lifting.
