POLICE have confirmed that one person has died after a collision on the M62 yesterday.
Four people were taken to hospital with injuries after the crash, and one of them - a 39-year-old man from Huddersfield - was pronounced dead a short time later.
A 37-year-old male remains in hospital with serious injuries.
Officers are continuing to appeal for information on the incident, which happened on the Eastbound carriageway at about 2.30pm on Tuesday, close to Junction 22, and involved six vehicles.
Initial enquiries suggest most of the vehicles were in collision after a Ford Fiesta struck barriers and rebounded on to the carriageway, which caused other vehicles to brake suddenly.
The Major Collision Enquiry Team is investigating the collision and is appealing for anyone with dash cam footage which may assist to contact 101, or to give information via the website www.westyorkshire.police.uk/101LiveChat, quoting log 1041 of 16 March.
