THE Covid-19 vaccine rollout has moved onto its next step meaning all over 50s can now book their jab.
Over 50s can book their jabs online now at the NHS's Coronavirus website to protect themselves from Covid-19, as long as they are registered with a GP.
The over 50s cohort are the final group in the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation top nine priority groups most at risk of death or serious illness from Covid-19.
Once this cohort have been vaccinated, it's hoped that 99 per cent of all deaths and nearly all hospitalisations from Coronavirus will be prevented.
The Government had aimed to get all nine priority groups vaccinated with at least one dose by mid-April, before moving onto younger people.
So far, almost 25 million people have received their first dose of the vaccine across the UK, and 1.6 million have had there second jab and are fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
In Bradford, so far 89 per cent of over 65s have been vaccinated, and more than a third of all adults have had at least one dose.
The next group who will be eligible for the jab is people in their 40s, then 30s, then 18 to 29-year-olds. The Government hopes these groups will all have had at least one dose by July.
