A SCOOTER was damaged so badly in a "suspicious" fire its registration plate and model could not be read.
West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service (WYFRS) was called to reports of a motorbike on fire, on Oakworth Road (B6143) in Keighley, at around 10.15pm last night.
It was near the Royal Mail Sorting Office.
A fire crew from Keighley rushed to the scene and discovered there was nobody with the vehicle, which turned out to be a moped.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze using a hose reel.
A spokesperson for Keighley Fire Station said: "The registration and model were not available, due to the damage."
They added that there were "suspicious circumstances", with police also involved.
West Yorkshire Police confirmed it was called to the scene at 10.09pm last night.
A spokesperson for the force said: "Police were called at 10.09pm last night (March 16) to reports of a scooter on fire in Keighley.
"The scooter was found on Oakworth Road.
"Enquiries are ongoing."
Police have also issued an appeal.
