It's estimated that more than 8,000 tonnes of wrapping paper were used on Christmas presents, using the equivalent of approximately 50,000 trees but most of it cannot be recycled because it is poor quality or contaminated.
Instead, flatten it to get the creases out and save it for next Christmas, use it for collages or book covers, cut it up to make gift tags or use a home paper shredder to make decorative filler for gift boxes and bags.
