PEOPLE in Bradford have been urged to be aware of a scam featuring fake coronavirus vaccination emails.

Action Fraud says it has received reports of the scam reported to be from the NHS.

One of the fake emails features a message with the heading ‘confirm your coronavirus vaccination’ which gives people two options to confirm a vaccine appointment invitation or another box to reject it.

The second email, headed ‘Book an appointment using the NHS e-referral service – NHS Vaccination’. This email agaiun has two options for recipients to click on; Accept Invitation or Decline Invitation.

 

Action Fraud warned the public to be extra vigilant, saying: “If you receive an email, text message or phone call purporting to be from the @NHSuk and you are asked to provide financial details, or pay for the vaccine, this is a scam #coronavirusfrauds.”

Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has also raised awareness of the scam, tweeting: “Fake NHS emails have been circulating telling people to apply for the #CovidVaccine, and linking to a fake NHS website asking for financial details. This is a scam.

“The NHS will NEVER ask for payment for the vaccine or your bank details.”

Action Fraud is the reporting centre for fraud and cyber crime committed in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

It has been set up for the reporting of incidents in which people have been scammed, defrauded or experienced cyber crime.
