Police are appealing for help to identify a man struck and killed by a train in Yeadon on Thursday.

The man, believed to be about 25, was hit by the Ilkley to Leeds Northern Rail service as it passed through Spring Tunnel at 3.39pm. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.

The man was 5ft 8in tall with short, light brown to light red hair and has blue eyes. He was wearing a black leather biker-style jacket and a similar black jacket underneath with the sleeves cut off and a row of tassels on the back.

He also wore a grey, long-sleeved polo shirt and a black short sleeved T-shirt. He had a Andy tattooed on the top of his left arm.

He was carrying six keys, attached to a pen knife and red Swiss Army knife on a key fob which read Ilkley Gazette on one side and Wharfedale Airedale Observer on the other, and a Sekonda pocket watch with a picture of a steam train.

Detective Inspector Derek O'Mara appealed for anyone able to help to call 0800 405040 quoting incident number 350 of the 13 December 2007."

The incident caused major disruption to the Ilkley line for several hours while police examined the scene.
