A LONG empty former allotment site in Keighley can be transformed through an industrial development after Bradford Council approved the scheme.
Late last year Parkside Properties submitted an outline application for a 1,970 square metre site at the junction of Kensington Street and Goulbourne Street - near Holycroft Primary School.
It would see four light industrial units built on the site.
The application has now been approved by planning officers, who said it would bring "welcome" employment to the area.
The application shows that there would also be parking spaces for 15 cars, and access to the site will be from Goulbourne Street.
£10 million development for Keighley town centre, including new Aldi, is approved
Officers said while they had no exact figures on when the allotment site was last used - a similar application to build on the site in 2003 described the land as an "abandoned" allotment.
Officers said: "The reuse of this overgrown site would be beneficial to the area.
"The benefits of creating jobs as a result of the proposal would be welcomed in this area and the impact of the site would be negligible."
One condition of the application is that the operating times of the units would be restricted to between the hours of 7:30am and 7:30pm on Monday to Friday and 7:30am till 6pm on Saturday and Sunday.
