A CONSULTATION that could shape where a new wave of cycle parking facilities are based in the District has begun.

Last year West Yorkshire was awarded over £12m in ’active travel" funding to boost walking and cycling as the region emerges from the pandemic, and has so far funded the creation of new cycle lanes and traffic free streets.

Part of the next wave of this fund will be spent on providing cycle parking spaces in areas that are currently lacking in such facilities.

Yesterday Bradford Council started a consultation asking cyclists where they would like to see cycle parking installed - and what type of parking they would prefer.

People are asked to use an interactive map to pinpoint exactly where cycle parking should be installed, and how many spaces they think needs to be provided.

Councillor Alex Ross-Shaw, Portfolio Holder for Regeneration, Planning and Transport, said: “Bradford Council in partnership with the West Yorkshire Combined Authority is delivering a wide-ranging programme of new cycling and walking measures, including pop-up cycle lanes and pavement extensions across the district.

"We’re also improving cycle parking so are keen to hear people’s views about where additional parking would be most helpful so I hope cyclists new and old will take part in the consultation.”

The consultation runs until April 5 and can be accessed at bradford.gov.uk/consultations
