PLANS to flatten a former filling station and build a shop, electric vehicle charging bays and a car wash bays have been submitted to Bradford Council.
The Bowling Bridge Petrol Filling Station on Wakefield Road has been empty for years.
A planning application to re-develop the site, effectively turning it from a petrol filling station to a EV charging station, has now been submitted to Bradford Council.
The plan, submitted by the Motor Fuel Group, would see the installation of 10 EV charging bays, three jet wash bays and a shop at the rear of the site.
Bradford's Clean Air Zone to be introduced in January
The application says: "The new sales building is yet to be determined but it is likely to be a retail outlet, similar to those found at other refuelling stations."
It says the EV bays would generate fewer trips to the site than the site would if it re-opened as a petrol filling station.
The proposals also promote uptake of a more sustainable form of travel, increasing local infrastructure for EV charging which is encouraged within regional and local policy."
A decision on the application is expected in mid March.
