POLICE have released dash cam footage which shows the horrifying moment a car crosses a central reservation onto the wrong side of the road to overtake traffic in front of it, just as another car is coming towards it.
West Yorkshire Police issued the video as part of a montage of clips showing similar dangerous acts on the roads of the county.
All three dash cam clips included in the video were submitted to the force via its Safer Roads Submission portal.
The third clip (pictured) begins with a grey car coming into shot as it veers to the right on a dual carriageway and over a central reservation onto the wrong side of the road.

As it does so, another car is travelling towards it and the two vehicles miss each other by a matter of inches.
The grey vehicle then continues down the wrong side of the dual carriageway, before the clip ends.
The first clip shows a silver car attempting to overtake on the wrong side of the road, but the driver changes their mind and pulls back into line just as the car recording the footage on the other side of the road comes near.
The second clip is of a black vehicle - which looks to be a taxi - that crosses a four-way junction while the lights are still showing red.
In total, 1,200 people have submitted footage to the force and nearly 60 per cent have resulted in further action.
West Yorkshire Police’s Safer Roads Submission portal was launched at the back end of July 2020.
It was created in response to increasing submissions of footage relating to driving offences that members of the public witnessed.
These reports were submitted to the police in a variety of ways beforehand, so a streamlined process was developed to deal with them.
Road safety is a top priority for the force and this will help its aim to prevent deaths and serious injuries on the roads of Bradford and West Yorkshire.
The potential offences that the new system will look at include dangerous driving, driver distraction including using a mobile phone, driving without due care and attention, careless driving, overtaking on solid white lines, not being in proper control of the vehicle and traffic light contraventions.
The portal can only be used for driving offences, it is not for submitting footage of Road Traffic Collisions or public order offences, and is not for reporting crime.
