A RESIDENT has revealed his shock at seeing the aftermath of a serious crash where two people died, when he clambered over a cutting after spotting flashing lights and hearing a helicopter.
The crash, involving a lorry carrying livestock and two other vehicles, happened on the A65 in Addingham at 8.10am on Thursday.
It prompted a major response from the emergency services and the drivers of both the cars - a man and a woman in their 20s - were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the lorry was taken to hospital with significant injuries.
Mr Brooks, who lives near to the A65 and is in his 70s, went down a cutting at the side of his house and climbed over into the field beyond.
He said: "I was shocked, it's stayed with me has that.
"I thought the accident happened at the roundabout, but when I got over the hedge and looked down the bypass I thought, bloody hell."
