As the Bradford Sunday Alliance League season enters the halfway stage, the race for the Premier Division title could not be tighter.

The table stayed the same following the big freeze last weekend which saw all but two Division Four games postponed.

Oakenshaw are currently top of the table with 21 points from 11 matches but there are four teams just two points behind who could leapfrog them if they win their games in hand.

Buttershaw White Star, Albion Sports, Bradford Park Avenue Rangers and Ventus Sports are all on 19 points.

Lying just behind the pack are Bolton Woods and Silsden, who have some catching up to do if they are to retain their league title. Part of their focus this season has been on the FA Sunday Cup and they remain the league's only representatives left in the competition.

Queensbury have also enjoyed success in knockout competitions but will need to transfer some of this form into their league games if they are to lift themselves off the bottom. In their favour, 'Bury have games in hand and most of the teams in the bottom half of the table still to play.

The Division One promotion battle is almost as tight as in the top flight, with only six points separating the top five clubs.

Clayton Orient and Westwood Park lead the table with 23 points but Westwood have a game in hand. Relay Recruitment, Eastward and Tyersal are all in with a chance of challenging for the top spot.

Tyersal, in particular, are the team to watch as the season reaches its business end as they have only played eight league matches but are only six points behind the top two and have to play both of them later in the season.

Brittannia Shipley lead the way in Division 1A with 24 points followed by George Hotel three points behind. Baildon Trinity Athletic, Cuedos Rangers and Otley Road are all waiting in the wings if the top two slip up.

At the other end of the table, Quarry are without a point in the first half of the season and look like they need a miracle if they want to avoid the dreaded drop.

Hudsons are also in deep trouble in second from bottom, having played at least three more games than anyone else in the league.

Allerton lead the way in Division 1B with only four points separating second-placed Junction Thornbury from fourth-from-bottom Royal Clayton.

In Division Four, White Horse took advantage of being one of the few teams to get a game by thrashing Cricketers 8-2 away from home, Shaun Simpson scoring his second hat-trick of the season.

Aire Valley missed the chance to go top when they were surprisingly beaten 5-3 by TYCC.
