The Victoria Hall in Saltaire played host to its first ever rock gig last night - and who better to launch what may be a new chapter in the building's long and colourful history than Bradford rockers Terrorvision?

The band, famous for such hits as My House, Oblivion, Whales And Dolphins and Tequila, reformed this year after a six year hiatus for a mini-tour which culminated in playing to the packed house in Saltaire.

Victoria Hall manager Stacey Clarkin was doubly excited about the concert.

She said: "We are hoping this is the first gig on many to be held here.

"The gig came about because Mark (Yates, Terrorvision guitarist) called into the building when I was doing a tombola for charity. He really liked it and we got talking about them possibly playing here.

"I am delighted its Terrorvision playing because I've always loved them but I was too young to see them before. Hopefully I will get a chance to see a bit of the gig tonight!"

The Telegraph & Argus caught up with drummer Shutty, Mark and bass player Danny Lambert during a break from sound checking .

Asked about the timing and location of the gig, Yates said: "We had a great offer to reform for a few dates in November. We've all missed it and we all still play and we decided where better to finish the dates than in Bradford.

"I happened to go into the hall and had a look around and thought it would be great as a venue. We always have a Christmas event and thought why not here.

Shutty said: "The theme for the night is not jingle bells just decibels. We haven't played Bradford in six years and this is kind of a home coming gig for us."

The 600 capacity venue was all but sold out and there was a carnival atmosphere in the hall, and with Shutty hinting at more to come next year there could be more good times ahead for the fans.

The only one who didn't seem to be having a good time was Titus Salt whose bust hangs over the entrance. Something tells me he probably wouldn't have approved.
