A Czech immigrant has been warned he faces jail after a jury convicted him of robbing a Bradford prostitute.

Jaroslav Baca, 38, had denied the charge but a jury at the city's Crown Court returned a unanimous guilty verdict.

During the trial, the court heard that Baca was one of three men in a Ford Mondeo who picked up Tameena Zephyr and took her back to his home in Washington Street, Girlington, on March 10.

Two of the men paid her £20 for sex in a bedroom and she performed a sex act on Baca. It was after she got dressed and prepared to leave that things "turned sour," said prosecutor Peter Hampton.

She was prevented from leaving the house and forced to hand back all the money.

Baca told the court he had initially suspected Miss Zephyr of taking £400 from his jacket pocket, but when she began crying he realised she was not involved. He denied trying to prevent her leaving.

Adjourning the case until January 11 for a pre-sentence report to be prepared, Judge James Barry told Baca, who now lives in Exmouth Place, Bradford: "A prison sentence is inevitable."
