Police have renewed an appeal for witnesses to a hit-and-run road accident.
A white Renault Clio was being driven along Child Lane, Liversedge, when it was in a collision with an 86-year-old man crossing the road in Roberttown.
The Clio driver failed to stop, turned left on to Robberttown Lane and then right on to Church Road.
The car then lost its wing mirror in another collision, this time with a Mercedes travelling in the opposite direction.
The pensioner, who has not been named by police, remained in a critical but stable condition tonight following the incident at 5.45pm on Wednesday.
Police are appealing for any witnesses as the area would have been busy at the time and it is likely the incident was seen.
Anyone with information should contact police on (01924) 431085 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
A 26-year-old Dewsbury man was arrested in connection with the incident and has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
