A housing trust's work in schools to promote construction as a career has been recognised with a top award.

Bradford Community Housing Trust's Building Services-Contract Services picked up a Business Supporting Schools prize at an event supported by Bradford Education Business Partnership.

It was one of a number of awards made to organisations, schools and students in recognition of the successful links between education and businesses in the Bradford and Leeds districts.

BCHT's Contract Services encourages young people to look at training in construction trades such as plumbing, joinery, bricklaying and professional roles.

Events it hosted this year included a taster day in construction for girls from secondary schools and a teacher awareness day.

Delroy Beverley, who is BCHT's Director of Contract Services, said he was delighted with the award recognition.
