Twenty five youngsters from a Bradford primary school enjoyed all the fun of the fair yesterday as they were the first to sample the city's new festive attraction.
As organisers of a Victorian Fair in Centenary Square were putting the finishing touches to an old-fashioned carousel, complete with horses named Perrin, Barbara, Nicola and Joe, crowds of pupils were clamouring for a ride.
The children had been selected for the treat from St Joseph's Catholic Primary School as a reward for receiving the most smiley faces in their class for good behaviour and good work.
The children tried out some of the rides and stalls which include a carousel, a ferris wheel and traditional games stalls like hook-a-duck and a coconut shy.
The fair will run from 11am until 9pm today and tomorrow, and from 11am until 5pm on Sunday.
