AN application to build housing on a strip of land in Wyke will be decided by a planning committee this week.
The plans for the grassed land to the South of 4 To 16 Brick Row were first submitted in 2018, and would see five houses built on the site.
On Wednesday morning the application, submitted by The Stott family, goes before Bradford Council's Bradford Plans Panel, and members have been advised to approve the scheme.
Members will be told that 36 people have objected to the plans, with concerns ranging from increased traffic to possible danger to children who play in the area, and the impact on a "thriving bat colony" on the land.
The development would be made up of two blocks of housing - a two house block and a three house block.
Plan to demolish Wyke property to make way for new housing is approved
But a report to members of the committee says: "Housing is acceptable in principle on this site, which lies in a sustainable position close to the centre of Wyke and its amenities.
"The proposal will contribute towards the housing requirements of the district."
Referring to the claim that the development could cause danger to children who play in the area, the report says: "The safety of children playing is a matter for parents/guardians, rather than the planning service and although the loss of play space is a concern, there is a recreation ground a short distance from the site. "
The meeting will be held online at 10am.
