WITH us spending more time at home and the recent bad weather, arguments around the home are bound to happen, even more so around the heating and bills.

Boiler Plan surveyed Brits to reveal if our thermo-spats were on the up and give some tips in keeping the heat down in both the house and our relationships.

Of those surveyed 1 in 14 admitted to splitting or taking a break from their other half over arguments to do with the heating.

With five per cent even admitting to arguing every day in Winter over the temperature of their home.

A total of 31 per cent of males said they offered to compromise more on the thermostat temperature compared to 25 per cent of women.

Other Findings:

• 1 in 6 of us talk about the heating for over 10 minutes a day – that’s the equivalent of 2.5 days a year arguing over the house temperature, which is 147.5 days over the average lifetime

• 1 in 5 have argued with their partners for leaving the heating on for their pets – with 18% happy to pay more in bills for their animals.

• 17% want to return to the office to avoid temperature wars at home - 25% said the arguments at home lead to dips in their mood and productivity as we continue to work from home.

• 34% of people surveyed said they will only turn their heating on if they have to.
