ILKLEY'S Town Mayor Cllr Mark Stidworthy is asking local residents to support local doctors in their tireless round-the-clock efforts to deliver vaccines to those who need them in Ilkley and Wharfedale.
Councillor Mark Stidworthy stressed: "Your local GPs within the Wharfedale, Airedale and Craven Alliance (WACA) primary care network are working hard to deliver Covid vaccines to all adults over 50 who would like one. This is a complex process that is being co-ordinated carefully and which also involves delivering vaccine to housebound patients and care homes. Delivery of vaccine to the vaccination teams themselves remains erratic.
"Your local doctors are aware of everyone who is registered with a GP practice in the appropriate age groups who needs a vaccine.
"If you are waiting for your vaccine please do not ring your GP surgery - they will contact you. Dealing with enquiries takes up scarce resources needed for patient care and coordinating vaccine delivery.
"We are all desperate to return to some semblance of normality whilst keeping the vulnerable safe. One way we can all really help is by remaining patient and continuing to place our trust in the fantastic local health care teams who have already done so much to protect us.
"Thank you."
