BRADFORD is braced to play its part in the final TV series of Peaky Blinders if asked, says the city's film boss.
The popular BBC One drama will finish after its upcoming sixth series, it has been confirmed.
But creator and writer Steven Knight said the story would continue in "another form".
He announced the news in a statement confirming the hit crime drama, which is set in interwar Birmingham, had resumed production following delays due to coronavirus.
Peaky Blinders has been partly filmed in the Bradford district since the first series in 2013.
Locations featured on-screen include the Midland Hotel, Undercliffe Cemetery, Little Germany, Keighley and Worth Valley Railway and Lidget Green.
The programme has proven so popular that Peaky Blinders tours around the city were regularly held pre-pandemic.
City Hall’s old cells have appeared in previous series - and it was again chosen for series five with its main entrance and grand staircase dressed as a hotel foyer, and House of Commons scenes were shot in council chambers.
David Wilson, director of Bradford UNESCO City of Film, says the city has not had the call yet from Peaky Blinders' producers to be a location spot, but it will be ready if it does.
He said: "The Bradford Film Office has been buzzing with enquiries for a good number of productions hoping to film this year.
"Professional film and TV are allowed to take place as long as they follow specific Government guidelines and understandably everything is taking a little longer than usual.
"We have not heard specifically from colleagues working on Peaky Blinders but that isn't unusual given the time frame for shooting series six.
"Bradford locations featured quite extensively in seasons four and five and we are very much hoping to support season six, but it all depends on the all important script.
"Bradford City Hall doubled as Westminster and provided the office space for Tommy Shelby MP - in previous series City Hall and Little Germany have featured in the show.
"Its really significant due to the cult following of such a series which is known all over the world.
"We've had a number of enquiries from fans of the show asking which Bradford locations have been used.
"The show gives the city a great calling card for other productions who are looking for the lavish surroundings of City Hall or the more industrial feel of areas like Little Germany.
"Its been a very challenging year for the film and TV industries but there is a huge amount of work currently going on behind the scenes to ensure that the public's appetite for quality British made films and TV dramas can be satisfied."
The sixth series will conclude the saga of Cillian Murphy's troubled Tommy Shelby and his family's rise to power against the backdrop of industrial Birmingham.
Series five, which introduced Sam Claflin as the leader of the British Union of Fascists Oswald Mosley and was partly filmed in Bradford, ended with a cliffhanger and the Shelby family betrayed by their allies.
It starred Helen McCrory as Polly Gray and Paul Anderson as Arthur Shelby, as well as Anya Taylor-Joy as Gina Gray.
