AUTHORITIES in Australia planned to catch and kill a pigeon who reportedly flew there from the US, because he broke quarantine rules and was a biosecurity risk. How ludicrous.
Billions of migratory birds cross continents every year. Are they all to be captured and bumped off? Someone had better warn all those swallows about to head here from Africa, before they finalise their travelling plans.
Thankfully the pigeon was given a reprieve after officials found his American leg tag was fake and he was likely to be an Australian bird.
